Film Discussion: Radu Jude's I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians (2018)

I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians is a black comedy that delves into topics of national history, remembrance, (anti)fascism, and the personal vs. the political. The tagline reads as follows: "In the film, a young artist reconstructs a historical event from 1941, in which the Romanian Army carried out ethnic cleansing on the Eastern Front." Like all of Jude's work, the film is radical, outrageously funny, and fiercely politically committed, and thus will hopefully make a good topic for a mid-summer discussion. Hosted by Julia Alekseyeva.
